ShipStation Alternatives: 7 Label Tools Compared on Price per Label and Carrier Choice
ShipStation’s current plans start at $14.99 a month for 50 shipments on Starter and rise with volume: $39.99 for 500 shipments, $79.99 for 1,000. Connecting your own UPS or FedEx account starts on Standard ($29.99 for 50 shipments, $89.99 for 500). ShipStation is also now part of a bigger company: Auctane and WWEX Group completed a merger on 1 June 2026 and operate as ShipStation Global.
If you ship a few hundred parcels a month and mostly use the software’s discounted USPS and UPS rates, there are cheaper ways to print the same label. Here are seven.
How we picked: We compared how each tool charges (subscription, per-label fee or carrier commission), which carriers you can buy discounted labels from, whether you can connect your own carrier accounts and at what cost, and whether a free plan exists. Details from each provider’s own site, checked 5 November 2026. No paid placements on this page.

The cost formula that matters
Software price alone misleads, because some tools charge per label and some don’t charge at all. Put everything on a per-label basis:
software cost per label = monthly subscription / labels per month
+ per-label fee (if any)
Example numbers, not benchmarks: 400 labels a month, using each tool’s discounted carrier rates rather than your own account.
ShipStation Starter (500 tier): 39.99 / 400 = $0.10
Shippo Pro (201-500 tier): 29.00 / 400 = $0.07
Easyship Plus: 29.00 / 400 = $0.07
Ordoro Advanced: 59.00 / 400 = $0.15
ShippingEasy Basic (201-500): 29.99 / 400 = $0.07
Rollo Ship: first 200 free, then 200 × $0.05 = $10 → 10 / 400 = $0.03
Pirate Ship: $0.00
At this volume the software spread is a few cents per parcel. Postage is still the bigger number, and it depends on your box sizes and zones. Before you switch for software savings, check whether a smaller box would save more by working through the dimensional weight formula.
The seven alternatives
Shippo
Shippo’s pricing page lists a free Starter plan for up to 30 labels a month, with one user, unlimited store connections and discounted USPS, UPS, FedEx and DHL Express labels. Pro starts at $19 a month for 1 to 200 labels when billed monthly ($205 a year on annual billing), then steps to $29 (201 to 500), $54 (501 to 1,000), $79 (1,001 to 2,500), $139 (2,501 to 5,000) and $199 (5,001 to 10,000). Pro adds up to 5 users, pick lists, scan-to-print and branded tracking. Above 10,000 labels a month, each extra label is $0.08.
Shippo’s integrations page lists Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Wix, Squarespace, Etsy, eBay, Amazon and Walmart.
Watch out for: on the free plan, each label bought through your own carrier account costs 5¢. If you have a negotiated UPS or FedEx rate, budget for Pro.
Pirate Ship
Pirate Ship is free shipping software for USPS and UPS. It charges no monthly fees and no markup, and says the carriers pay it instead of you. It connects to Shopify, Etsy, eBay, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Squarespace and Wix, and it also handles spreadsheet uploads for batch shipping.
If you ship small, light parcels from the US and only need USPS and UPS, it’s hard to beat on software cost.
Watch out for: there’s no FedEx or DHL, no Amazon or Walmart order import listed, and no inventory features.
Easyship
Easyship is built around international shipping, with 550+ couriers to compare plus tax and duty calculation. Per the plan data on its plans page, the Free plan covers 50 shipments a month for one user. Plus is $29 a month billed monthly ($23 a month billed annually) for 500 shipments and 3 users. Premier is $69 a month for 2,500 shipments and 5 users. Store integrations include Shopify, WooCommerce, Squarespace, Amazon, eBay, Etsy, Wix and TikTok Shop.
Watch out for: linking your own courier account isn’t on the free plan, and Plus charges $0.05 per label on a linked account (lower on higher tiers).
Veeqo
Veeqo has been owned by Amazon since 2021. Its shipping features are free for everyone; Veeqo earns a commission on labels bought through it. Discounted rates cover Amazon Shipping, UPS, USPS, FedEx, DHL and OnTrac, and you earn up to 5% back in Veeqo Credits on labels. All plans include unlimited users, SKUs and warehouses. Paid tiers add inventory sync, forecasting and digital picking: Inventory starts at $19 a month and High Volume at $350, both priced by order volume.
It imports orders from Amazon, Shopify, eBay, Walmart, WooCommerce and TikTok Shop. FBA orders don’t count toward your chargeable volume.
Watch out for: if you rely on your own negotiated carrier contract rather than Veeqo’s rates, we couldn’t confirm the terms for connecting it, so check before you move.
Ordoro
Ordoro’s pricing has a free Essential plan for 100 labels a month with one sales channel, one ship-from location and one user. Going over 100 labels locks the account temporarily. Advanced is $59 a month for 3,000 labels, 5 channels and unlimited users; going past 3,000 adds a $30 charge. Premium is $149 a month with unlimited labels and the option to use your own carrier accounts (first 1,000 labels on your own accounts included, then $30 per 1,000).
Ordoro also sells inventory (from $349 a month) and dropship management (from $299 a month) apps, which makes it a fit if you route some orders to suppliers. Its partner list includes Shopify, Amazon, Etsy, eBay, Walmart, WooCommerce, BigCommerce and Squarespace.
Watch out for: the jump from free to $59 is steep if you only just pass 100 labels.
ShippingEasy
ShippingEasy offers a free Starter plan for up to 25 shipments a month with order import from up to 3 stores, discounted USPS and UPS rates and automation rules. Growth is $19.99 a month for 26 to 200 shipments and adds unlimited stores, phone and chat support, CSV uploads and branded tracking. Higher tiers are priced by volume: Basic $29.99 (201 to 500), Plus $49.99 (501 to 1,500) and Select $69.99 (1,501 to 3,000), with Premium and Enterprise above that up to 10,000 shipments.
Several third-party directories list ShippingEasy as an Auctane brand. It isn’t on ShipStation Global’s current brand list, and we couldn’t confirm its parent company on its own site.
Watch out for: connecting your own carrier account adds a monthly fee based on your plan.
Rollo Ship
Rollo, the thermal label printer brand, runs Rollo Ship, a free multi-carrier platform for shippers in the US and Canada. There’s no monthly subscription; your first 200 labels carry no label fee, then it’s 5¢ per label, dropping to as low as 1¢ through its rewards tiers. UPS and USPS are built in for US shippers. FedEx works through your own account, without a Rollo discount. It lists 16 selling channels, including Amazon, eBay, Shopify, WooCommerce, Walmart, TikTok Shop, BigCommerce and Squarespace.
Watch out for: Etsy isn’t on its channel list, and the per-label fee means it isn’t free at volume.
Five checks before you switch
Moving label software takes an afternoon if you prepare and a bad week if you don’t. Run these before you cancel anything:
- Export your history. Download shipment records and any saved customs data from ShipStation first. Don’t assume the new tool will import past shipments, and you’ll want them for claims and reporting.
- Rebuild presets, not just stores. Package presets, default weights, product dimensions and automation rules may not transfer. List them out so you can recreate them in the new tool.
- Check every channel you sell on. A tool that imports Shopify orders may not import Walmart or TikTok Shop ones. Match the channel list above against your own.
- Test a return label. If you offer prepaid returns, generate one in the new tool and confirm it works with your returns flow. Our returns management guide covers the policy side.
- Run both in parallel for a week. Keep the old plan active until a full week of orders, including at least one international parcel if you ship abroad, goes out cleanly.
One more point on carrier accounts. If you have a negotiated UPS or FedEx contract, the own-account fees in the table above can matter more than the subscription. At 1,000 labels a month, a 5¢ fee adds $50, which can be more than a plan upgrade that makes own-account labels free.
Which alternative fits
- Mostly USPS and UPS, US-only, light parcels: Pirate Ship or Rollo Ship.
- You sell a lot on Amazon and want free software: Veeqo.
- International orders are a big share: Easyship.
- You want ShipStation-style automation for less at a few hundred labels: Shippo Pro or ShippingEasy.
- Shipping plus dropship routing in one place: Ordoro.
Whatever you pick, set it up with clean SKU codes and saved package presets, because rate shopping only works when weights and dimensions are right. Our guide to creating SKU numbers covers the code side. Outsourcing the whole job is a different decision; see our 3PL shortlist for small stores.
